On the occasion of Saraswati Puja, books, copies, stationery , drawing books, colours and of course, sweets were distributed at New Light India, an organisation on the banks of the Ganges, running from a terrace of a temple deep inside a red-light district of Kolkata, looking after underprivileged children and children of the surrounding red light area, providing them with education, and more importantly, a safe environment to grow up in.
It was a humbling experience. Our hearts went out to these innocent souls as they sang and recited for us. Kudos to their teachers and caregivers.
